Palliative Care & elderly care in Abingdon, Oxfordshire
We have a long standing relationship going back to when we started in 2004 with the NHS continuing care team and Sir Michael Sobbel House Hospice.
Palliative care focuses on relieving and preventing the suffering of patients. Palliative medicine is appropriate for patients in all disease stages, including those undergoing treatment for curable illnesses and those living with chronic diseases, as well as patients who are nearing the end of life.
Palliative medicine uses a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, relying on input from physicians, pharmacists, nurses, chaplains, social workers, psychologists, and other allied health professionals in formulating a plan of care to relieve suffering in all areas of a patient’s life. This multidisciplinary approach allows the palliative care team to address physical, emotional, spiritual, and social concerns that arise with advanced illness.
Medications and treatments are said to have a palliative effect if they relieve symptoms without having a curative effect on the underlying disease or cause. This can include treating nausea related to chemotherapy or something as simple as morphine to treat a broken leg or ibuprofen to treat aching related to an influenza (flu) infections.
Dementia Care & elderly care in Abingdon, Oxfordshire
Staff receive specialised training to be able to provide appropriate support and dementia care.
The provision of dementia care on a private basis is governed, controlled and regulated in exactly the same manner and to the same standards as care provision undertaken on behalf of Social Services or the NHS.
The boundaries are however considerably wider with private dementia care as many support functions are no longer eligible for social funding. Typically visit times will be longer with private dementia care to allow quality time to support the Client at their own pace, which is particularly important with Dementia where short visits can be counter productive.
We have significant experience of providing complex elderly care for Clients with; Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, Picks and for those that just need a little help and support to allow them to maintain their dignity and independence in their own homes.
We are also highly regarded for our empathy, sensitivity and individual dedication with very individual and highly personal palliative elderly care.
We have been located at our current premises within the Notcutts garden centre for over 8 years and have an excellent reputation in the County. We have a dedicated fully equipped staff training facility to ensure our staff are consistently trained to our high standards.
All our training material has been developed in house and exceeds all National, legal and Industry guidelines and recommendations.
